Log #4 : Not all logs will have titles

Setting: The date is Wednesday August 4th, 2021. I started at around 4:45pm. The weather was quite sunny and hot- not really ideal for me.

The Experience

Today’s route was the regular, but I was extra pumped today. I was determined to improve on my previous time. However, just like the run in Log #3, I did not reach very far before my legs muscles started burning. Clearly, I still lack the strength required. Fortunately ( …or unfortunately for some), trail running is much of a mental challenge as it is a physical one. I spent the majority of the run mentally fighting my burning/aching muscles and my lazy thoughts telling me to stop. It was not easy, but then again, it never is. My breathing was solid. It was only on the ridge, nearing the end that I think the heat started getting to me and had me more exhausted than normal.

This time was 34 seconds faster than my previous time. The improvements will become smaller soon and I will have to diversify my training. I’m thinking about doing specific strength training sessions.
