Log #7: Robotics, music, and life in London

Hi there!

It’s been almost five years since my last life update on here. Quite a lot has changed! Although the blog has been quiet, life certainly hasn’t.

From studying robotics to building robots

In 2024, I completed my MSc in Human and Biological Robotics at Imperial College London. Afterwards, I joined a London medtech startup called Imagine Health, where we’re developing a robotic ultrasound system to perform autonomous echocardiograms – ultrasound scans of the heart.

It has been an absolute dream job for me. Being able to work on robotics with a direct application to human health feels very much aligned with the interests that led me to start this blog.

For the moment, my main focus is helping make the company a success. It’s something I care deeply about, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish.

There’s still time for piano

I’m still playing! These days, it’s mostly contemporary classical piano: Ludovico Einaudi, Alexis Ffrench, and Austin Farwell are some of the composers whose music I’ve been enjoying.

Exercise is still part of my life as well, with calisthenics making up most of my training at the moment. The activities have shifted a little since the trail-running logs that previously filled this blog, but taking care of my body remains a priority.

Longevity in a fast-paced city

My view on longevity hasn’t really changed. I still want to live as healthily as possible, for as long as possible, while maintaining my physical and mental autonomy.

Living in London does present a challenge, though. The pace of life brings more stress than I’d ideally like. I’m doing work that I love, but I still have to think about how that pace fits with the life I want to lead over the long term.

I don’t have a neat resolution to that tension. Right now, making the company a success is my focus. Looking after myself remains important within that.

I’d also like to travel more – hopefully in the mountains. There’s plenty of the world I still want to experience, and I hope to make more room for that.

Returning to the blog

As I return to writing, I’d like this space to reflect more of my own thinking.

Longevity will remain at its heart. Alongside it, I want to explore life philosophy and society: what makes a life fulfilling, how we decide what matters, and how the world around us shapes those decisions.

Some posts will be personal reflections. Others will be arguments, questions, or ideas I’m still trying to work through. Hopefully, they’ll give you something to think about – and perhaps something you’ll want to challenge me on!

For now, that’s where I am: building medical robotic systems, playing piano, keeping moving, and trying to make time for everything else.

It feels good to be writing again.
